Ionia, moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18 where she married Darrish (Bo) Palmer, worked as a seamstress and raised her 7 children. She then followed her eldest daughter to Vancouver, WA in 1972 where she owned a day care and eventually retired at Techtronic as a technician.
Ionia accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She served faithfully as a senior mentor of the church. She was truly loved and respected in the community.
Ionia was preceded in death by both her parents, 19 siblings, husband Elmer Simpson and her second eldest child Flora Jean Palmer-Hall.
She leaves to mourn her living children, Constance Palmer-Adams, Franklin Palmer, Vernon Palmer, Nathaniel Palmer, Larry Lester, and Lanell Jackson. 29 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 14 great, great grandchildren. She was surrounded by love and light from all her family.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation for the many expressions of love, care and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.
