

John Joseph Bartholomew passed away at home on March 2, 2015 surrounded by his family. John passed away after a prolonged illness. He was a very patient and loving man who treasured his family very much, especially his grandchildren.
He was born in San Francisco, raised in the US and Europe and graduated from Hudson's Bay High School and St. Martin's College. As a professional structural and civil engineer, he supervised repairs and restoration of numerous bridges, roads, and parking structures. His favorite project was the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon. Upon retirement, John and his wife Jean settled in Vancouver, Washington to be near his children and grandchildren.
John spent many years enjoying various hobbies, including woodworking, fishing, hunting, lapidary work, and golfing. John and Jean were married for 47 years. John was a member of the AA program for 23 years, where he lived the principals of AA program.
He is survived by his wife Jean, his son Dr. Sam Bartholomew (Kelly) and 2 grandchildren, and daughter Dr. Rachel Bartholomew (Matthew Eric Sanchez). He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy M. Bartholomew; father, Donald K. Bartholomew and brother, Matthew P. Bartholomew.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, March 6th at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be preceded by the Rosary at 10:30 AM.
