

John A. Rehr, 82, of Vancouver, WA passed away at home May 4, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born in Clinton, Iowa September 21, 1930 to James and Elsie Rehr. John served in the Army and the Air Force from 1950-1977, retiring as a Tech Sargeant. During his 25 year military career he instructed many astronauts including Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin in water survival. Throughout his military career John saved the lives of many people and earned numerous medals. He enjoyed his work and was proud to serve his country.
John is survived by his children James L. and Lisa S. Rehr, Rodney N. Rehr, Donald S. Rehr, Karen L. and Glen E. Nirk. John was a grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Larry J. Rehr.
Memorial services will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, WA at 2:00 p.m.
