Lynn B. (Hebert) Stiefel, age 73, of Vancouver, Washington passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving daughters, on June 21, 2018. She was finally reunited with her husband Charlie who passed away December 19, 2000. She was born February 25, 1945 to Herman and Hardis (Tonder) Hebert as the oldest of two daughters (Anita) and grew up in Vancouver. She was a hard worker, beginning at age 12 as a child care worker and then later as a bank teller. At Hudson’s Bay High School, she became involved in sports and was elected as secretary-treasurer in the Girls Sports Club. She then attended Brigham Young University where she earned her teaching degree and also spent a semester abroad in France. During this time, her Mom let her know that she met the man Lynn would marry, the cute neighbor who bought the house across the street. Her Mom passed away before Lynn & Charlie eventually married on August 7, 1971. She began her teaching career in the Evergreen School District until they were blessed with their first child, Kyle, while living in that house. Shortly thereafter they bought their forever home in the Heights where they welcomed their daughters, Brynne and Tami. Lynn made birthdays and holidays a big cause for celebration, especially Christmas. Her poetic summary of the year was anticipated and loved by many. And the legendary Stiefel Christmas tree which seemed to grow wider every year was a fun tradition, adorned with her carefully chosen and beautifully wrapped gifts underneath. Lynn always made raising her children and being a mother her main priority in life, so once the children arrived, she took on various part-time employment: reading aid, attendance clerk, and working at Fabricland where she could display some of the beautiful clothing items she would make for her family. She devoted her life to being her children’s biggest fan; never missing a school or sporting event where they were participating. This continued as her six beautiful grandchildren arrived, ending with a road trip out to Utah just one month before she passed to attend her oldest grandson’s special religious milestone and hear him speak at church. She spent her life serving others in the church and community and has touched countless lives as is evident by the cards that have been flooding her mailbox. She loved her time serving in the Portland LDS Temple for the last few years as well. One of the things she loved to do was travel, with her favorite destinations being the Oregon Coast & Hawaii. She was able to take her dream trip: a cruise in Europe, last year with a dear friend. Time with family spent playing board games, building with legos, roasting s’mores around a campfire, and reading stories with her grandchildren, were some of her favorite activities. She was also an extremely talented seamstress: making things ranging from matching outfits for her girls with their Cabbage Patch Kid dolls, sleeping bags, the BEST Halloween costumes, Prom dresses, everyday clothes…she could do anything!
All are invited to attend the viewing (10:00) and funeral services (11:00) held June 30, 2018 at the LDS Stake Center in Vancouver, interment at Park Hill Cemetery
