Born on January 7, 1949, at Beyer’s Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Carol grew up on Berry Street in Westland, Michigan, where she lived until her marriage in 1972. She was the beloved daughter of Frank Porte, who passed away on February of 94 at the age of 68, and Ann Porte, who passed away on August of 2017, at the age of 92. Carol was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Frank E. Porte (Sept of 2003) and Ron Porte (July of 2021), and by her former husband, Manoual Paul Haviaras, who passed away on February of 2017, at the age of 76.
In 1972, Carol married Manoual Paul Haviaras. Together they raised a son, Scott Haviaras. The couple later divorced in 1997. Following the divorce, Carol moved to Florida to live with and care for her widowed mother, Ann. For many years, she devoted herself to her mother’s care until Ann’s passing in 2017. During this time, Carol worked part-time as a dog groomer, finding joy in caring for animals.
Carol cherished her family and later discovered a love for travel. She especially enjoyed going on two memorable cruises and playing at the casino. She will be remembered for her passionate love for family, her selfless caregiving, and the many years she spent ensuring her mother was comfortable and loved in her final chapter of life.
She is survived by her son, Scott Haviaras and his wife Darcy of North Port, Florida; her grandsons, Anthony Haviaras and Jacob Haviaras; and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kays-Ponger, Uselton & Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, Florida. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions be made in Carol’s memory to a local animal shelter or rescue organization, honoring her work as a dog groomer and her love for animals.
