Christine Hicks, age 91, of Englewood, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 27, 2020. She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on August 9, 1929. She passed away peacefully at home with loving care from family and hospice. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard; her parents Sile and Eva Trammell; daughter, Brenda Kasa; grandson, Bret Hicks; granddaughter, Kristy Kasa, and sister, Betty Lehr.
Prior to Christine and ‘Dick’ retiring to Florida in 1991, she worked for years as Food Service Manager, Hazel Park School District/high School, Hazel Park, MI. She had a love for people, serving students, organizational skills, and love for food! She enjoyed Florida, the warmth that it brought, and having family visit. Her life involved many years of service to the Lord serving faithfully at Fellowship Church of Englewood in hospitality on Sunday mornings; senior luncheons and church dinners. Her expertise of cutting ‘cakes and desserts’ was her specialty and serving with a smile. She so enjoyed playing cards and games and had a competitive spirit! Her love for card ‘fabric’ making was evident and she so enjoyed being a member of the Lemon Bay Garden Club of Englewood until her eyesight with Macular degeneration, it just became more difficult for her.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (John) Tovey; son, Rick (Renee) Hicks; grandchildren, Kevin (Amy) Kasa, Jason (Amanda) Tovey, Joshua (Stephanie) Tovey; Brooke Hicks and fiancee Kevin Easton; great-grandchildren; Mia, Noah, Molly, Ethan, Titus, Skyler, Riya, Mahlek, Mya and Johnny; son-in-law, Robert Kasa; her sweet older sister, Syble Lehr; a niece, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Although our hearts hurt, we rejoice in the knowledge she is whole again, reunited with loves ones, and in the loving arms of the Lord.
Celebration of Life service will be held at Lemon Bay Funeral Home on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 2pm with Pastor Garry Clark officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1pm for family and friends. Following the service, there will be a private family graveside burial at Gulf Pines Memorial Park Cemetery, Englewood, FL.
The family wishes to thank Tidewell Hospice and team for their professional care; home nursing care of Lynn Cosgrove; and arrangements prepared by Lemon Bay Funeral Home.
