David M. Francisco

It is with heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of David M Francisco… cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. David passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026 at the age of 95 at his home in Venice, Florida.

Born on April 27, 1931 in Rochester, New York, the beloved son of the late Belle and David O. Francisco, David’s life was a testament to the values of dedication, service, and friendship.

David was a proud graduate of West High School and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Rochester and Ohio State University, where he met his future wife Dorothy. He ultimately earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and went on to a successful career as an Optometrist. His commitment to serving others was further illustrated through his honorable service in the US Army, where he formed bonds that lasted a lifetime.

In his professional life, David found joy and fulfillment in his work as a founder of the Rochester Optometric Group. His passion for helping others see the world more clearly was matched only by his commitment to his patients and colleagues.

He was involved as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America, where he helped guide young men in their own journeys. His affiliations with Phi Kappa Tau, Epsilon Psi Epsilon, and the Freemasons were a testament to his dedication to fellowship and service.

David was a man of many interests, including fishing, hunting, boating, camping and traveling - hobbies that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature and the thrill of adventure. His quick wit and humor were legendary, and he had an uncanny ability to befriend anyone he met, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David's legacy is carried on by his loving wife of 72 years, Dorothy, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, including five children: Jim (Susan), Tom (Celine), Paul (Angela), Patti (Jeff) and Pam (Dale)... as well as ten cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will always remember their grandfather's warmth and wisdom.

In remembering David, we celebrate a life rich with love, laughter, and service. David's life was a beacon of light to all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, may his soul rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in David's memory, honoring his spirit of generosity and kindness.

There will be a celebration by the family at a later date.
