David was a graduate of Pershing High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He later earned an associate’s degree from Macomb County Community College and completed coursework through Faith Bible Institute, reflecting his deep and enduring commitment to his faith.
David found great joy in spending time with his family and his church family. He had a wide range of interests, including clogging, biking, golfing, staying active, studying the Bible, and pursuing his interest in becoming a chef.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Beatrice Shaw, and his brothers, Arthur and Harry.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce; his children, Lisa LeBlanc (Ron) and Michael Shaw (Shannon); his grandchildren, Matthew Lichtman (Brittany), Andrew Lichtman (Lisa), and Nathan Kus; and his great-grandchildren, Ember, Amelia, Liam, and Lukas Lichtman. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim Shaw (Nancy) and Steve Shaw, and his sister, Nancy Nelson (Dale).
A funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of North Port, 8000 Dorothy Ave, North Port, FL 34287, on May 5, 2026, at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow at the church.
