

Fannie Hope Smith, age 85 longtime resident of Venice passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was married to Wilmer Herman Smith for 67 years before his passing in May. She is survived by her children, Deborah Frederick and Wilmer C Smith; surviving siblings is Lowell Zane Sites and Ira John Sites; grandchildren, Michael Smith, and Alicia Relats; and great grandchildren, Westyn, Donevyn and Ethyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Franklin Sites, Clair Virginia Bennett and Thamer Sites, Swinton Sites and George Sites.
Fannie was a Hairdresser in Venice area for 30 years. She loved her job and she loved her clients. She would work five days a week and on her way to work she pick up her client to bring in to do her hair. She was always outgoing and tackled lots of jobs but hairdressing was her favorite. She didn’t want to retire from doing hair, but sometimes your health changes things for you. So she joined her husband in the ranching business. She was very good at financing and making decisions. She got to use her creativity in building another home. She was a very talented lady, she would take on a job and get it a 100%. She was a very loving caring mother, and to tell you the truth, she loved being out in the country. She truly looked forward to the weekend, suspending time with her kids.
A visitation will be held on November 8, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Kays-Ponger, Uselton & Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, located at 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293.
The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm on November 8, 2025.
A graveside service will take place on November 10, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hillcrest Cemetery, 600 County Road 268, Quincy, FL 32351.
