Taken too soon from us, Gail M. Donahue passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020. Gail will be forever missed by her beloved partner of 33 years, Joanne Agostarola. She is also survived by her brother, Roy Donahue (Francine) of Virginia, her lifelong friend Darlene Koszick of Florida, her niece and goddaughter, Donna Shea (Jim) of Connecticut, her nephews Richard Gallagher (Theresa), Robert Gallagher (Terry), Phillip Gallagher (Maria), John Gallagher (Kerry) all of Pennsylvania, Patrick Donahue (Cassandra), Christopher Donahue (Gayle) of Virginia, Denise Balsama (Darryl) and nephew Danny Balsama (Courtney), niece Lenamarie Agostarola (Shaun) all of New Jersey. Her most precious grand-nieces and nephews, Antonio, MiaBella, Milania, and Gino.
Gail retired as a Director from a leading corporate health insurer after 37 successful years. Gail had a wide range of interests. She demonstrated athletic prowess on the basketball court as both a player and a coach. Her other athletic interest was volleyball. Among her hobbies, she was a ceramicist following in her mother’s footsteps. She taught ceramics from her home studio; children were her favorite students. Gail was always up for traveling. She enjoyed touring the US, the Caribbean, cruising and never missed an opportunity to visit “The Mouse”. Her summers were spent on the water boating, crabbing, clamming, and fishing. Nobody could catch and clean crabs like Gail. And if you were joining her on her boat, you also became a crabber and a clammer. Her Florida retirement provided a new passion for Gail, hunting for sharks’ teeth. Gail even crafted a shark tooth scoop that fellow beach goers often ogled. When she wasn’t on the water you could find her cruising the neighborhood in her golf cart. Did someone say “casino”….you didn’t have to ask Gail twice. It has yet to be determined who will keep score in her place for our girls’ card game get-togethers. She never turned down a card game or a Bingo outing.
Gail loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest every moment. She most enjoyed sharing her life with Joanne and all of her beloved “peeps” Her smiles came easy. Her hugs were the warmest. As one of her dear friends said, “the world lost a special human being and we are the worst without her, but the best for having had her in our lives for as long as we did”. Gail was one of the “Good Ones”.
A Celebration of Gail’s Life will be announced at a later date.
