Gene R. Anastasi

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Evelyn and brothers Ronald and Chuck. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Alice; daughters Lisa (David) and Tina; grandchildren, Alisha and Jeremiah and many nieces and nephews. Gene is also survived by his brother Chuck's wife, Joan and sisters Pat (Bill) and Peggy (Bob).

Gene was born and raised on his family’s farm in Harlan, Iowa. He attended meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio. He moved to Englewood, Colorado and met his wife, Alice. They lived in Englewood until 1978 when they moved to Parker, Colorado. They moved to Englewood, Florida in 1999.

Gene worked as a meatcutter for Safeway and King Soopers (Kroger) for 34 years until he and Alice moved to Florida. He worked at Walmart as a meatcutter until he retired in 2013.

He did volunteer landscaping on his days off at an Englewood nursing home for over 20 years. That work ceased due to Covid. After that he began volunteering to do gardening work on the Parkway in Englewood Isles. That work continued until April 2026 when his health declined. Even in his final moments he believed he was working on the Parkway.

Gene’s hobbies included gardening, of course, boating, fishing and hunting on the farm in his youth.

He was a loving husband, caring father and a friend to many.
