Jack Robert Lambert

Jack Lambert is not a name soon to be forgotten. Jack passed on July 21st, 2026, making him 87 years of age. He was born February 7th, 1939 in Jasper, Alabama to parents Katherine Mary Leigeber and Clarence Lambert. He will be best remembered in Manasota Key, where he has been a member of the community for almost 4 decades, and where he was community president for a large portion of that time.

Jack had a very visible love for education. After graduating from Sarasota High School, he spent a semester at UF, and continued his education at FSU to achieve his bachelor’s, two masters degrees, and a doctorate. His intelligence was not only recognized in his academic achievements, but was seen in his sharp memory throughout most of his life. If you hadn’t heard of the The Jabberwocky or The Sneaky Snake, you had in full after knowing Jack. His ability to memorize short stories and poems gave him an unspoken charm, and he was able to recite these even in his last days.

Jack was best known in the community for his contributions to the students of Venice High as a teacher from 1983-2005. When he wasn’t working, he was probably on a cruise ship, doing some woodwork, reading a western, or listening to some tunes like Kingston Trio. His adventures continued when he moved in with his youngest daughter Katrina, her husband Brian, and their daughter Emma. They went on adventures to a large portion of Florida’s zoos, where he would find joy in the time he spent with all kinds of animals.

Jack will be missed by very many, but to point out a few, his family. Katrina Foltz, and her family lived with and cared for Jack in his last 5 years. In that time he was often seen (& greeted by his many kind neighbors) enjoying his daily walks or outside in his favorite chair for garden time. Both Jim Lambert and Cindi Brown made time to make sure he always felt special, including nightly phone calls (thank you Cindi) and roadtrips to North Carolina (thank you Jim). All of his grandchildren appreciated the time he set aside for them for activities like carving little critters out of wood, going on trips on his boat, and all kinds of adventures. They are all who he is survived by.

He was married to LaVerne Lambert for 40 years, who also taught at Venice High as a math teacher. The two of them went on many of their travels together, and spent the time they had raising their daughter Katrina. We lost LaVerne on August 2021, and she too will continue to be missed and remembered for the love she contributed to Jack and all of their family.

The service to pay respects and say goodbyes to Mr.Lambert will take place 7/28/26 at 11 am, hosted by Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Rd, Englewood, FL 34223. Thank you for your time.
