Jorge E. Vidal

Private family services were held on February 11, 2025 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grove City, Florida. He was buried at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Florida.

He was born on April 10, 1954 in Camaguey, Cuba, to Antonio Vidal and Rosario Azpeitia.

In 1961, he was forced to come to the United States at age 7, as a refugee. This included his siblings and cousins as part of the famous Pedro Pan “Peter Pan” flights from Cuba; a mission from the Catholic Church to save children from communism. This required for him to remain separated from his family, while living in foster homes. It wasn’t until years later that he was finally able to be reunited with his mother and siblings. He had a devoted career working alongside his family in the construction industry, achieving various supervisory and management roles specializing in the operation of heavy machinery.

He is survived by Maria (Pachi) Vidal, his son Jorge Vidal , his daughter Jacquelyn Harstad, his son-in-law Lance Harstad and three grandchildren, Lance Jr., Jonah, and Delilah Rose.

He was predeceased by his older brother, Antonio “Tony” Vidal and his sister, Elena Maria Vidal.

Extended family: Ana “Ani” Olavarria Vidal, sister-in-law. Daniel “Danny” Vidal (Janet), nephew. Javier “Javi” Vidal (Mey), nephew.

Ivonne Hoecker (Eric), niece. Ivette Orozco (Alain), niece. Romel “Mel” Azpeitia, nephew. Natalie “Nia” Azpeitia, niece. Romelio (Mello) Azpeitia, step-father. Rina Vega (Jose “Pepito”), sister-in-law. Vicente Garcia, brother-in-law. Virginia Gonzalez (Luis “Louie”), sister-in-law. And many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

A funeral Mass for Jorge will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025, 12:00 PM at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic church, Placida Rd, Grove City, FL 34224. Following the funeral mass will be a graveside service at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Rd, Englewood, FL 34223.
