Katherine J. (Smith) Hoover of Port Charlotte passed away peacefully on the evening of March 2nd at the Englewood Hospital. Her beloved son Keith D. Hoover and her brother William (Bill) Smith at her side.
She was born Oct. 23, 1934 in Boston, Ma. to A. Daniel and Elsie (Cross) Smith. The family later moved to Sudbury in 1942, where Katherine graduated from Sudbury High School. She was a member of the cheer leading squad, school chorus and the Senior Play.
She was married to Jack Hoover in 1955 and traveled to Germany and other postings while he was serving in the military.
After living and working in "silicon valley" for a number of years she retired to Florida to live with Keith.
Here she resumed her wonderful skills at needlepoint, embroidery and sewing. She made many lap quilts for those she met. She had a love of crossword puzzles, animals, and family visits.
She is survived by her loving son Keith of Port Charlotte, brother Bill & sister-in-law Diane of New Hampshire, sister Libby & brother-in-law Rick of Vermont and numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout the continent.
