Lawrence A Picard

It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence A. "Larry" Picard, age 97, of Venice, Florida,

announces his passing on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Larry was born in Hazel Park, Michigan, the

youngest child of Joseph E. Picard and Christine (nee Pero) Picard. Larry married Rita Mae Donaldson of

Houma, Louisiana, and they later moved to Ferndale, Michigan, where they raised two sons, David and

John.

Larry was a US Navy WWll veteran and 8-yr Reservist, who later worked at Pullham Lumber and retired

from Illinois Tool Works in Ferndale, where he also was owner/operator of gas stations there and in

Detroit.

Larry and Rita enjoyed many winters in Winter Haven, Florida, but were long-time residents and

Ferndale and Madison Heights, until Rita's passing in 2008 after 64 years of marriage. Larry relocated to

Florida in 2020.

Larry was predeceased by his wife, Rita; brother Stuart and sisters Neoma Scott and Virginia Plemmons.

He is survived by his sons David L. (Marge) Picard and John M. (Terry) Picard; and grandchildren

Samantha VanderSalm (Ned), Katherine Lewis and Christopher (Kari) Picard; and greatgrandchildren

Jackson Lewis and Maddox Lewis; Carter Picard, Gavin Picard, Noah Picard (dec'd), and tobe-

named baby Picard; and Winnie VanderSalm, Gus VanderSalm, and Matt VanderSalm.

Larry will always be remembered...may he rest in peace.
