Lillian Mendenhall

Born January 17, 1922 in Richmond, Indiana to Arthur and Marguerite Aubin.

She was married to Robert Mendenhall on Thanksgiving Day.

Until she moved to Florida in 1998, she lived in Richmond, Indiana. Besides lovingly taking care of her 7 children, she worked for an insurance company, car dealership, the newspaper and office manager for general surgeons.

She was a Girl Scout leader for 23 years. In 1976 Bob and Lillian purchased Fisher’s Hardware which is now Mendenhall Hardware.

Lillian was a member of St Raphael Catholic Church in Englewood, Florida.

She had a strong faith which showed in her active presence at St Raphael’s.

She was a member of CCW where she held the position of treasurer for many years. Many of the members knew her as “Miss Lillian”. It was said that she always had a brilliant smile while making all the crafts and baked goods for the organization.

Lillian was survived by her children Jane Sowers, Jody (Perry) Wise and Jim (Cindy) Mendenhall. She had 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert Mendenhall, sons Raymond, John (Jana), Jeff, daughter, Terri (Richard) Rausch, infant grandson and granddaughter and great granddaughter.

A funeral mass will be held at St Raphael Catholic Church, Tuesday,

March 18, 2025 at 10:00 am. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Richmond, Indiana at St Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
