

Mary Homer was born on March 19, 1935 in South Pittsburg, TN, daughter of Ruth Wallace and Homer Killian Fowler. She graduated from South Pittsburgh High School and attended the University of Chattanooga.
She brought joy to everyone who knew and interacted with her. Mary Homer lived a life focused on helping others whenever the opportunity arose. She took great pride in her family, community and church and was so grateful for the blessed life she led. An active member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Mary Homer served 30+ years on the Altar Guild and was active with the United Methodist Women, Chancel Choir and her church circle. In addition, Mary Homer was an active member of P.E.O. International, Chapter DO for 50 years. She was also a member of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Pi Beta Phi Sorority and The Antique Collectors Club in Lakeland. Upon her move to Englewood, she joined and enjoyed worship and many friendships made at Englewood Methodist Church.
Mary Homer was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Havron, her late husband, David Lloyd McSween, to whom she had been married 63 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Harrison (Jim) of Englewood, FL, her grandchildren, Katie Forsman (Owen) of Anacortes, WA and Jay Harrison of Lakewood Ranch, FL. She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Maja Forsman, of Anacortes, WA. She leaves behind an extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be scheduled at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland at a later date.
