Michael Jude Evangelisti passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2026, but his memory lives on. He was the devoted husband of Christine (Henwood) Evangelisti for 42 wonderful years, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
He was born to Pasquale Evangelisti and Nancy (Gates) Evangelisti on January 27th of 1963. Michael is survived by his father Pasquale and his father’s wife Margie Evangelisti, his brother Patrick Evangelisti, his sister Denice Marlow, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Michael’s legacy is carried on by his four daughters: Erica Addonizio, Valerie Foxhill, Brittany Belmont, and Taylor Powers, each of whom went on to marry loving husbands, Anthony Addonizio, Justin Foxhill, Andrew Belmont, and Patrick Powers, who all viewed Michael as a second father. Michael was a beloved Pepop to 10 cherished grandchildren: Logan, Colton, Hailey, Lucas, Peyton, Emma, Addison, Cole, Micah, and Julia.
Michael was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 399, where he worked for 40 years and later served as an apprentice teacher, mentoring the next generation of iron workers with the same dedication and work ethic that defined his career.
A gifted athlete, Michael excelled in both football and baseball and was honored as an All-South Jersey player. He attended Shawnee High School for two years before transferring to Gloucester Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1981. His love of sports continued long after his playing days, especially as a coach for his daughters’ soccer teams. Anyone who stood along those sidelines remembers the unmistakable sound of his whistle echoing across the field as he encouraged his players with passion and pride.
Michael will be remembered for his quick wit, his knack for giving unforgettable nicknames, and his love of Neil Diamond. Whether sharing a laugh, telling a story, singing along to a favorite song, or spending time with those he loved most, Michael had a way of making every gathering brighter.
Above all, Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, coach, mentor, and friend. His greatest joy was his family, and he took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His humor, generosity, and larger-than-life presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the lessons he shared, and in the countless stories that will continue to be told for generations to come.
Michael’s family is grateful for the support of friends and family in this difficult time. They ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the “Robert C. Sweeney Scholarship Award Fund” to help support those in need achieve their goals of pursuing higher education. Address: Iron Workers Local Union 399, 26 E. Fleming Pike, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
