She was the beloved wife of the late James Athanas; devoted mother of Theony (Steve) Athanas-Parr and Christ (Maria) Athanas; and cherished Yiayia of Michael, Stephanie, Jamie, and Paige, who were the joy of her life.
Popy was the loving sister of the late Stella (Nick) Poulos, Nick (Koula) Doukas, and Peter (Vasiliki) Doukas, and a dearest aunt and godmother to many.
The kitchen was her domain, a place where she shared her love through food and created lasting memories for family and friends. She had a remarkable gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 24411 Rampart Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33980.
Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Rd, Englewood, FL 34223.
