Rita Castaldo, 84, of North Port passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024. Rita was born in Naples, Italy in 1940. She moved to America as a teenager, with her family in 1955 to Brooklyn NY, where she went to school and worked in her family’s bakery business. She married Gerardo Castaldo in 1959 and went on to open successful bakery businesses of their own. Rita and Gerardo had three children, Maria, Anthony and Victor. In 1989, the family moved to Florida where she worked briefly at Publix in the bakery department. Rita loved spending time with her family; having conversations about Italy’s culture & traditions; playing poker, crossword puzzles and was very much into fashion. Rita was predeceased by Gerardo, Maria and Anthony. She is survived by her sister Nancy; son Victor, nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 18th at 11:00 am at Gulf Pines Memorial Park 2401 Englewood Rd, Englewood, FL 34223. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
