Robert Lee Richardson

Bob was born in Detroit, MI, in 1940 to Robert and Leona Richardson. He grew up in Warren, MI, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. He worked for the City of Warren in several different positions. He served as a firefighter for the City and excelled in that role, achieving the rank of Battalion Chief before retiring in 1995. His time as a firefighter brought him lifelong friendships.

After retirement, he spent half the year in Englewood, a move that allowed him to spend more time with his mother, sister Sandy, and brother-in-law Paul. Bob and Sandy were lifelong confidants. Whether they were spending time with family or gossiping about their favorite soap opera, they were always there to lend each other a helping hand.

Bob loved to travel. As a child, he made many trips to Alabama, where his father's family was from. His uncle, Grady "Bo" Richardson, was an important part of his life and provided a strong connection to his family roots. As an adult, he continued traveling to Alabama to visit his beloved cousin and childhood friend, Larry Whitson.

Over the years, he took his family on many vacations to visit relatives and friends. He instilled a love of travel in his children, taking them on numerous adventures across the country. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed exploring new courses wherever he went. Bob also enjoyed riding his bike for miles through the communities in which he lived.

He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He took his responsibilities seriously and cared deeply for everyone in his life. He never failed to help where needed and opened his home to those who needed a friend. His home became a gathering place for neighborhood children. He welcomed them and looked after them as if they were his own, creating the "Hill Street Gang" and fostering lifelong friendships for the entire family.

Bob loved nothing more than being social, hosting gatherings, and enjoying life with those he held dear. He gave us a special life, and he will be greatly missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leona Richardson; his brother-in-law, Paul D. Moore; his former wife, Kathy Capshaw; and his wife, Marge Richardson.

Kathy was the mother of his three children: Robert (Loré) Richardson, Robin (Lou) Baggett, and Glen (Sarah) Richardson. He was also the proud grandfather of Dalton (Jeanie) Baggett and Shane (Andie), Tristan, Meghan, and Ryan Richardson, all of whom will miss their "Papa Moose."

When he married Marge in 1995, they started a wonderful life together. His children came to love and appreciate her for the happiness she brought to him. Bob welcomed her children, Ken Gillig, Julie (Alan) Sitek, and Debbie (Bruce) McPhee, into his life. He also cherished their grandchildren, Zack and Emma Sitek, and Alicia (Patrick) O'Brien and their children, Blake, Mackenzie, and Raegan.

Bob leaves behind his beloved sister and lifelong friend, Sandra Moore; his children and grandchildren; his nieces and nephews; and his dear friends to the end, Garth Rice, Dave Garwood, and Jim Pangonis.

The family will hold a service in Alabama at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's or the Alzheimer's Association.
