Virginia was born on June 3, 1934, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, and grew up in the area. Her friends knew her as Jini, her daughters Holly and Linda, as Mom, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Gidgi. To those who met her, Virginia was a paragon of kindness, humor, and empathy.
She was married to Nicholas Firda, a pilot in the US Air Force, who passed away on November 5th. After his retirement from the Air Force they made their way to Peterborough, New Hampshire. Virginia taught 1st and 2nd grade at Dublin Elementary School in Dublin, NH, retiring in 1994 after a 21-year tenure. She was also a dedicated member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Peterborough Lioness Club, and the Peterborough Methodist Choir.
In retirement, Virginia and her husband moved to Englewood, Florida, where she joined the Venetian Harmony Chorus, pursuing her love of singing. She enjoyed traveling to competitions and performances with friends. Virginia's family was her greatest love, and she strove to nurture a deep and abiding love among them.
