OBITUARY

Aaron J. Sentes

August 25, 1970October 19, 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Aaron J. Sentes on October 19th, 2018 at the age of 48.

Aaron was born August 25th, 1970 at Fort Ord California. At 9 months old our family moved to Kauai Hawaii, where he grew up and learned to surf. A beautiful surfer he was. He competed and travelled the world as a pro surfer. Aaron was kind, loving, and caring. His sense of humor was so unique and playful. He took such pride in his work as a painter and craftsman, always wanting to do the best job. Aaron loved the Aloha spirit, always speaking of it and living it. Aarons daughter Sofie was the love of his life. He will be deeply missed by his Father Frank; Mother Lynda; Sisters Alissa Fox, Lauren and Ashley Sentes; Daughter Sofie, her mother Bel; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Many Friends: Brother-in-law Russ Fox; Nephew Andrew; and Niece Ella Fox. Aloha Aaron. We love you and will keep your Aloha Spirit with us every day, as you are the light in our Life.

Aaron I miss you everyday. My heart is broken. It will never be the same without you in our life. Why did dad do that to us.

Oh. Tears. I still have mixtape-CDs that Aaron crafted specially for me and are pure genius! He is and always was family, as we grew up together on Kauai. I'm so sorry about this, but I do know his sweet soul is soaring in pure peace now. Aloha Aaron. Blessings unlimited to the Sentes family.

Aaron grew up in the water and sun of our gorgeous island of Kauai. Surfing became his passion and he excelled in it. He was sponsored in the years that surfing wasn’t so popularized/monetized, and got to travel the world as a surfer. Travel stoked his interests which included a love for vinyl (he was an avid collector). Always making mixed tapes, then mixed CDs , compilations of the gems that he had found. Aaron loved art, Modigliani, Picaso, Felini, Antonini, and the creative process. He tried his hand at carving stone. I will never forget his reaction of awe when we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and saw a a real life Modigliani sculpture.
I will be forever grateful to Aaron for sharing this island with me and for giving me our daughter. Sofie was where he found peace. He always longed to speak with her and worried about being away from her. I believe that he felt that she was safe here where he was raised and that brought him some comfort. Raised in the balmy island with full, fluffy white clouds, blue skies, enveloping sun, warm playful waves, sweet pure air, the sound of chickens clucking and crowing, geckos (sofie says that the gecko is dad’s spirit animal), wild piggies.
He is. also remembered by his introverted nature, retrospect, analytical thoughts, fascination with quantum physics/mechanics and nano-technology. He was open and permeable.
For those of us that are left with the void of his presence, how do we live with our own survival? We reminisce bittersweetly of the moments we shared, trying to recreate the feelings that were illicited by his energy. We talk to him in hopes that he is listening, when we hear a gecko chirp , is that him letting us know that he’s ok?
