OBITUARY

ARMANDA ALLEN

Born August 26, 1918

Armanda Bell Russell Allen was born to Overton and Bessie Russell Aug. 26, 1918 in Raleigh County, West Virginia and passed away Sept. 8, 2012 in Ventura, CA. She was 94.

Armanda was a nurse for 42 years, working at the State, County and Community Memorial Hospitals; she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Those who knew her best would tell you that she was a cook extraordinaire, canning vegetables, pickles and jams; there is still an argument as to whether the strawberry or plum was her best; and when she made everyone’s favorite lasagna, she made enough for the whole neighborhood. With everything else she did, she somehow found the time to crochet, read voraciously and travel with her adoring husband Robert; and…at age 93 she still made the best pancakes in the world! Robert says Armanda had a better memory than people 1/3 her age; she could tell you stories and if you wanted to walk away she would say “I’m not finished!”

Armanda will be so greatly missed by her husband Robert Allen, sons: Ron (wife Barbara) Allen and Kenny (wife Luz) Allen; daughters: Betty Loving, Shirley Wood and Nancy (husband Tom) Harris; sisters: Vera Kliever from Michigan, Patricia Whittaker, Dyce Faye and Hilda Pritt all from West Virginia; 29 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren and many, many friends…whew!

A time of visitation will be held at Charles Carroll Funeral Home Tues. Sept. 11th from 4-7:00 p.m. and again Wed. Sept. 12thfrom 5-6:00 p.m.; with funeral services following Wed. at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held Monday Sept. 17th at Parkview Cemetery Peoria, Illinois.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura, CA 93003. For additional information please call (805) 642-8134.

Dear Bob,

Emert and I were so sorry to hear about Mickey's passing. She was an extraordinary gracious lady. She used to make me laugh, I just LOVED her lasagna. All the good times we had camping, do you remember the time you and Lucky sang "She'll be coming around the mountain?" All those good times and memories. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Hugs and love to you always.

Wow Grandma, you lived such a long life! You have impacted so many lifes and put smiles on so many faces. I always rememember you and grandpa showing up to Grandma Shirley's in the caddy! It was never a visit from you both without a cookout or going out to eat! I can still picture you sitting at grandma's kitchen table drinking your ice tea out of grandma's special glasses. It was always the same kind. I love hearing stories about you and I will never forget the stories that I personally got to share with you. I know that God has a perfect angel sitting right next to him! Now you are able to watch over all of us and guide us. I love you Grandma!

Well Mickey, what can we say?
I have known you for many many years, and I have never met anybody in my life as honest and as a beautiful as you.
One of the most important things I loved about you, and there are lots, is your love for everyone, and everything!
I guess the Lord needed help upstairs because you have the knowledge, the love, and the biggest heart of anybody to pass through this life!
We are all truly blessed to have been a part of your life, and I for one will say that we will always carry on what you have left us, and we will always remember you and make sure that everyone knows what an Angel you have been to all of us!
Gonna miss you Mickey, yes, gonna miss you, its not going to be the same, you have left us so much, but having you here with us, and talking with you, having our meals togeather, and being near you, we have been blessed by the most beautiful angel in the world, you are going to be missed!
R.I.P. Mickey, R.I.P.!
