Betty Jean Williams

November 2, 1935November 2, 2018

Betty Jean Williams went to be with the Lord on her 83rd Birthday, November 2, 2018 – born in 1935; after a brief, pain free battle with cancer. She was born in Los Angeles, California to Genevieve and Harry DeuPree. She was the second eldest of four sisters. Betty attended Catholic grade schools in Los Angeles where she began her high school education at the all girls Catholic School, Bishop Conaty, completing her high school at George Washington High. As a young woman, Betty loved her job in Downtown L.A. where she worked as a secretary for Union Bank. It was in L.A. where she met the love of her life, Ronald “Ed” Williams at the age of 19 in 1954. Ron (or Ed as Betty called him) knew he had met the girl of his dreams and future wife the night he first laid eyes on her. Betty felt the same and they wed shortly after in 1955. The pair shared a very special love for nearly 64 years. They found their first home in Redondo Beach, California where they began raising their three children before, finally, calling Ventura, California their permanent home in 1970. Betty knew that being a mother and caring for her family was not only a priority, but her passion; which was the best job she ever had. When her youngest was in junior high school, Betty began working for Ventura High School’s attendance office and was the secretary to the school’s athletic director for almost 10 years. Betty was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Ventura and truly believed in God’s love and the word of the Lord. Betty loved to travel and see the world with Ron. She loved playing tennis and was playing up until a month before her passing (Betty and Ed were members of the Cabrillo Racquet Club for nearly 15 years). Betty enjoyed hosting dinner parties, being in the kitchen cooking and baking, playing bridge, shopping, and taking walks with her love, “Ed”. The one thing Betty enjoyed most of all was spending time with, caring for and loving her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve and Harry DeuPree; her sister, Diane Williams and her brother in-law, Paul Anderson. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Williams, their three children, Laura Vogt (Ted), Craig Williams (Karmen), Darla Pulido (John); her grandchildren Jared Vogt (Crystal), Julia McFerron (Andrew), Skyler Koski-Vogt (Mary), Sean Vogt, Ronnie Williams, Steven Williams, Genna Williams, Nick Pulido (Kristina) and Janessa Pulido; as well as her six great-grand children with one on the way. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dolores Anderson (Jack), Sandra Anderson and Ron’s brother, Dave Williams (who was also married to Betty’s late sister, Diane) as well as many nieces and nephews. Services for Betty will take place on Thursday, November 8th at Sacred Heart Church (10800 Henderson Road, Ventura CA 93004). Services will begin at 10:00 AM with a Rosary service, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. There will be a reception immediately following the Mass at Biedermann Hall on church grounds to celebrate Betty’s life.
