Beverly Nadine Henry, age 73, passed away at Community Memorial Hospital on May 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. In her final weeks she was surrounded by her family and friends, many who traveled from across the country to be with her. She was born on October 1, 1939, in Fresno, California to Jack and Bonnie Clark. She attended Avenal High School where she lived for many years, before marrying George Henry on March 16, 1962. They moved to Ventura in 1972 where they raised their family and have resided for the past 40 years. Earlier this year they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with many family and friends.
Beverly worked for the Ventura Unified School District in Food Services and was the Cafeteria Manager at Ventura High School until her retirement in 2002. She was active in Native Daughters of the Golden West, serving as President of the Ventura Poinsettia Parlor the past two years. She enjoyed NASCAR races, camping, boating, dune buggying and traveling with family and friends to the beach, Sierra’s, Glamis, Havasu, Alaska, and the New Mexico Hot Air Balloon Festival, right up to her last months. She was the “ultimate fan” of her family, actively cheering for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at well over 2,000 Little League, AYSO, VYBA, baseball and volleyball games, graduations and performances over the years.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father Jack Clark and is survived by her mother, Bonnie Clark of Ventura; husband George Henry of Ventura; six children, John, Christy Patterson and husband Dave, Debbie Solomon & husband Mike, all of Ventura; Lana Donahue and husband Charlie of Dixon, George Jr. and wife Vera, of Volcano, and Will and wife Rose, of Modesto. She is also survived by her sister Jacqui Long and husband Jack, of Santa Cruz and 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who thought the world of their grandma and will miss her dearly. The family would like to thank Dr. Lynn Kong, Dr. Fogel, and the 6th floor nursing and respiratory staff of CMH for the wonderful care that she received.
A service celebrating Beverly’s life will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ted Mayr Chapel, 3150 Loma Vista Rd. in Ventura.
