Bradford G. Schaefer was born on March 30, 1934, and was called home on April 17, 2018. He was born in Hicksville New York, to Mildred Schaefer. Bradford was her only child and the joy of his mother's life. He later married Elizabeth Velsor on October 30 1954. Soon after their marriage the first of three daughters was born, Jo-Ann followed by Donna and the twins Charles and Bernadette. Dad was a no frills kind of man. He would hate all this fuss… His favorite pastime was going to Chumash, often going several times in a week. He loved bingo and the thrill of the win. Dad was a volunteer with the New York Fire Department, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and uncle. All three generations proudly becoming captain in their departments. In 1968 he moved his family to Ventura CA, where he would live the rest of his life. He became a grandfather in 1976 and that’s where the title Pops came to be born. He was affectionately called Pops from this point on.
Pops is survived by his four children and their spouses, Jo-Ann and Mark, Donna and Dave, Bernadette and Brian, and his only son Charles; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and the Wood Man, Scott and Ashley, Jessica, Michelle, Christopher, Stephanie, Jackie, Alex, Nolan and Nick; and ten great grandchildren, Ashley, Scotty, Lizzie, Charlotte-Rose, Lisa, Jayden, Tanner, Coy, Emily, and Lilly.
