Bruce Edwin Bivens

Bruce E. Bivens, 58, went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2013, passing peacefully at Ventura Community Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1955 in Champagne, Illinois, the son of Bert and Mary Bivens. He grew up in Burbank and attended John Burroughs High School. He married Trudy Stephens, adopting her three children, Pamela, Steve and Jack. In 1979, the family moved to Colorado Springs where their son Brian was born. They later lived in Denver, Colorado, where Bruce worked in the grocery business. While in Colorado, Bruce also started a computer company which he later sold. After eighteen years of marriage Bruce moved back to California to be close to his mother and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Bivens and daughter Pamela. Survivors include his father Bert Bivens of Bellingham, Washington, sisters Sue Fredrickson of Simi Valley and Diane Ross of Ventura, three nephews, William Willis of Las Vegas, Camden Ross of Ventura, and Robert Fredrickson of Simi Valley, his son Brian Bivens and daughter-in-law Stephanie Bivens of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, Jack Bivens and Steve Bivens of Denver, eight grandchildren including Tiffany Flemming, Amanda Saunders, Michael Saunders, Zachery Espinosa, Stevie Jade Bivens, Sarai Bivens, Brayden Bivens and Shiloh Bivens, his uncles George Smith, Richard Bivens and Loren Bivens, his aunt Barbara Gipe, numerous cousins, and his pet kitty Kiki. Bruce also leaves his beloved friends Terri, Larry and Chelsea Turner, Rodger Minamyer, Willy DeLaura, Holliday Tabatchnick, Shaya Ribal, and many other friends and coworkers at Survivor Industries.

Bruce was especially fond of time with friends and family. He enjoyed spending time at the ocean, was always working with computers, and helping his friends. Bruce was a very giving person, who always thought more about others than he did himself. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date following the scattering of his ashes at sea.
