Charlene worked as a bookkeeper for her boss Robert Jones whom she considered to be her “third son”. She retired in 2010.
She moved to Ventura in 1986 to live with her daughter Laura, after living with her son Tom and his family for over a year in New Orleans and Virginia. While semi-retired from accounting, she worked for Anacapa Fine Yarns in Ventura and made many friends there.
She loved to travel in the United Sates and also made trips to England, France, Spain and Italy. She cherished her visits with her sister Katie in Montana where they attended many quilting retreats and trips to Yellowstone National Park. She enjoyed and excelled in crafts, especially knitting and quilting. Everyone in the family has socks knitted by Mom. She was also a wonderful painter and created beautiful works of art.
Charlene is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Andreotti of Ventura; daughter, Laura Parson of Ventura; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Linda Parson of Medford, Oregon and Tom and Nita Parson of Corinth, Mississippi; grandchildren Eric and Sarah Parson of Wilmington, North Carolina, Sarah Parson of Corinth, Mississippi; David Parson of Medford, Oregon; and the light of her life, great-grand-daughter Sophia Jane Parson of Wilmington, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister Kathryn Flick of Sheridan, Montana.
The family scattered across the country over the years but always loved the times they were all together and spending time with their beloved Mom.
It was her wish that there not be a formal service. Donations can be made in her name to the American Lung Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
