Charles was born to Verna and Henry Hess in Taft, California on December 2, 1936. At the age of 12, his family moved to the city of Ventura. While attending Ventura High School, Charles met the love of his life, Jeanette Treece. They began their life together, and were married for 55 years until her death in 2013. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, Charles took over the family Oilfield business. Charles’ Ventura Oilfield Service was a fixture of the oil industry based off the Ventura Avenue for nearly 50 years.
Charles was an avid scuba diver, fisherman, waterskier, inventor... basically a jack of all trades. His greatest accomplishment in life was, and will continue to be, his family. He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, his sons Daniel (Lisa), Christopher (Jessica), grandchildren Clayton, Danielle, and Julian Hess, sister Caroline (Michael) Klieman, and numerous extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Alzheimer’s Association. There will be a private family gathering in memory of Charles.
