Charles Ervin Raum

Charles E. (Chuck) Raum of Ventura passed away Tuesday evening July 12, 2011 at Community Memorial Hospital while being comforted by his wife and two sons. He was 75. Chuck was born November 5, 1935 in West Chester Pennsylvania where he attended Tredyffrin-East Town High School and graduated in 1953.

He was an accomplished athlete in several sports and accelerated in basketball and baseball. He played in the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system before enlisting in the US Marine Corps in 1954. He served his country proudly for 8 years and saw tour of duty in the Korean War. After the service, he moved to Los Angeles and began a career as a Commercial Electrician.

Chuck met and married the love of his life Diane Napierala of Buffalo, NY in 1966. They had two sons and relocated to Orange County, CA where they lived for 32 years and raised their family.

Chuck spent 20 plus years working for early technology companies Xidex Data Disk and MicroData in Irvine before starting his own General Building Contracting business which he ran until he retired in 1997. He and Diane moved to Ventura in 2005 where they made many great friends and enjoyed socializing in their neighborhood clubhouse. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 5th with 60 close friends and family. Chuck will always be remembered by those who knew him as a kind, jovial, big hearted spirit who would always put his family first. He never gave up his character, was a true patriot, fought to the end, made his family proud and he always did it “My Way”.

He will be missed daily by his surviving family; Wife Diane Raum of Ventura, Son Mike Raum of Santa Barbara, Son Brian Raum, Daughter-in-law Melissa Raum, Granddaughter Morgan Raum, Grandson Nicolas Raum all of Ladera Ranch CA, Sister Betty Good of Coatsville PA and sister Janet Disbrow of Manteca, CA.

Services will be held Wednesday July 20th, 1:00 P.M. at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
