

Precious is when the children of God are called Home. Cleo Leach Worley passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on September 22, 2011. Living to be the blessed age of 87, Cleo was born on November 14, 1923, in Andersonville, TN to William Henderson Pratt and Martha Stooksbury. She spent her younger years in Knoxville, TN where she worked in her family’s grocery store. Cleo married the love of her life, Walter Worley, in Burlington, TN on April 2, 1944, and shortly afterwards they moved to the Ventura area where Walt was serving in the Seabees.
Walt and Cleo raised two sons, Dick and Bill, and Cleo was able to stay at home with them until they were in high school. At that time, she went back to school and became a beautician and she worked at a local beauty parlor for a number of years as well as doing her friend’s hair at home. After Walt retired as a plumber, he and Cleo started Worley’s Hauling and she enjoyed going on jobs with him throughout the area. Cleo was a member of Grace Church and was an active member of several local churches over the years serving as a deaconess and in other positions of leadership. Cleo enjoyed reading, gardening and going out to eat with friends. She was known for her generous spirit and compassion for others. Her life was devoted to her faith, family and friends. Cleo was an inspiration to everyone she knew in her life’s journey. She and her twinkling eyes and smile will be missed by all. Cleo left a legacy of love and determination.
Cleo is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Worley, her parents, and siblings, Colonel Woodrow Wilson Pratt, James Taylor Pratt, Charles Moss Pratt, Trula Elizabeth Weems, Beulah Elmo Kerby, and Bonnie Maude Peterson.
Cleo is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Brenda (Viles) Worley of Huntington Beach, CA; son and daughter-in-law William and Mari (Graser) Worley of Ventura, CA; grandchildren Teresa (Mike) Moore, Phillip Worley, W. Scott (Erica) Worley, James (Crystal) Worley, Rachel Worley, David Worley and Leah Worley; great-grandchildren Montana, Cooper and Jaden Moore and Nicole, Kyle and Elizabeth Worley, and sister, Sophia (Dave) Edwards of Maryville, TN.
She is also survived by many friends and extended family who mourn her passing.
Cleo’s final resting place will be alongside her husband, Walter Worley. Graveside services were held at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura on Tuesday, September 27th. A celebration of Cleo’s life will be held on October 8, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Grace Church in Ventura with Rev. W. Scott Worley, Pastor Cliff Howery, and Pastor Tracy Cook officiating. There will be a reception following in Cooper Hall at the church.
