

Daphne, daughter of Elinor and Harvey Craig, grew up in Evanston, Illinois. She graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Daphne was a talented artist whose paintings have been displayed in art shows and galleries in Mexico as well as the United States.
Daphne married Richard Flu in 1937 and had daughter, Stephanie. In 1941, she married Frank Greer and had daughters, Michael and Lindsey and son, Frank III. They lived in Santa Barbara for 20 years where Frank had an architecture company and designed several of Santa Barbara’s High Schools and other buildings and homes. In 1959, she married Mario Aluta and they moved to Mexico where she continued her art studies. Many of her paintings reflected the local culture. Daphne lived in Mexico for 30 years. First in Ajijic and later in Guadalajara. She returned to America in 2000 where she lived in Ventura at the Ventura Townehouse.
Daphne had become a devout Christian in her middle years and devoted herself to Bible study. In her 90’s she wrote a book, “Baptized By Jesus” that is soon to be published.
She is survived by her three daughters, Stephanie, Michael and Lindsey and a son, Frank; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, 3:00pm, at 1338 School House Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93108.
