David Jonathan Fa'alevao, 38, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on January 25, 2014. David was born as a twin on April 21, 1975, in Santa Barbara, CA to his parents, the late High Chief Pepe Faiva Fa'alevao and the late Tauilevasa McManus.
David spent his childhood and adolescent years growing up in Oxnard since 1976. David and his twin brother Andrew grew up playing baseball and football. Growing up playing baseball, David was known for hitting homeruns and was one of the best pitchers that came out of the Southside Little League. He was not only a great athlete, David was also instrumentally talented. David grew up playing the flute, saxophone, tuba, and played piano for a short time.
David graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1993. Immediately out of high school David began his career at the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) in Oxnard (C Street office). He continued to work for the USPS and dedicated 20 years of service. David started as a Postal Clerk and in 2000 became Manager of Distribution Operations at the Oxnard Mail Processing Facility until its closing in September of 2011. He transferred to Van Nuys Post Office as FSS Manager for a brief time, then transferred to Goleta Mail Processing Facility and served as Supervisor from March 2012 until his passing.
On February 9, 2003, David married his best friend Carol Lewellyn Fa'alevao. Together they had two beautiful children, Andrew Jr. (14) and Savannah (13), and two step-children Brandon Meier & Shelby Babcock. David was a 16 year resident of Ventura. He loved spending time with his wife, children and step-children; enjoyed watching his children play sports, spending time with his twin brother Andrew and hanging out with family. David was an avid reader, enjoyed playing golf and poker with family, always won cool items on BZid, and was a loyal San Francisco 49ers fan. He also helped coach his son’s youth football team (Oxnard Warriors) with his twin brother Andrew from 2008 to 2012.
David was truly an inspiration to those who knew and loved him. He was a man of integrity, honesty, loving, kind, gentle, smart, witty, funny, and most importantly he was a God fearing man. David was a longtime member of the First Samoan Congregational Church of Oxnard, served as the Financial Secretary, Assistant Director of Youth Group and a Sunday School Teacher for the youth.
David was a fun and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, and survived by his wife, children, step-children, twin brother Andrew Fa'alevao; sisters Edelene Burgess, Victoria Saipale, Veronica Sao and Pa'i ChuLing; and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be missed but will live in our hearts forever.
