Delores Elaine Eaton

Dee was born August 24, 1929 in Spokane, WA to Capt. Sidney and Delores “Bunny” Houghton. After relocating to Ventura, CA, Dee graduated from Ventura High school in 1942 and went on to the University of Redlands, studying music. Dee married her husband Dave in 1949 and the two of them established their home in Ventura where they raised their three children. Dee was a stay at home Mom for many years and taught piano lessons from the family home. After her children, music was her number one passion, and for many years Dee served as the Music Minister for the First Baptist Church, Ventura Missionary Church and Community Presbyterian Church. She concluded her music ministry at Santa Paula Presbyterian Church in 2012. Dee was happiest when she was directing a choir, and one of her favorites was the youth choir at Ventura First Baptist Church, The Choralaires. The Choralaires had as many as 110 voices and enjoyed touring and performing at churches throughout Northern and Southern California for many years.

Dee was an accomplished musician, and for many years used her talents to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dee is survived by her husband of 66 years, David D. Eaton; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah L. and Ron Johnston of Atascadero, CA., and Donna L. Burns and Dave of Chicago, IL.; son, Dana L. Eaton of Ventura, CA; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sidney and Bunny Houghton.

A celebration of Dee’s life will be held on Saturday January 9, 2015, 1:00 P.M., at the Ventura Baptist Church, 5415 Ralston St, Ventura, CA 93003.
