Edwin L. Bruce Jr.

On July 7, 2011 Edwin L. Bruce Jr. passed away after a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded with family and friends, whom loved him dearly. He was 68. Edwin was born on March 4, 1943 in Ventura.

He loved traveling with his wife on many Princess cruises, road trips to family in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas and enjoyed vacationing in Laughlin, Nevada. Edwin enjoyed fishing, camping and dirt bike riding with his boys growing up, as well as spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed buying and restoring old muscle cars. Edwin was an avid swap meet and car shows enthusiast. He was an active member in the Santa Barbara Corvette Club and went on many road trips with the organization. In 2009 the Corvette Club caravanned to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky.

Edwin retired from Raytheon in April 2009 working as an Optical Technician. He was an active volunteer for the South Coast Fellowship Pantry and Trinity Lutheran Church Family to Family.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin L. and Lorece G. Bruce and his brother Chris Bruce. He is survived by his wife Marylyn Bruce of 43 years; sons Jason (wife Sheri, daughters Janetta, Leah, Phoebe, Madison, Trinity) Bruce and James Bruce; sisters and brothers, Carolyn Cain, Sue (Paul) Powell, Lorece Strong, Richard (Pearl) Bruce, David (Debbie) Bruce, Gary Bruce, Rory Bruce, Bernice (Kirk) Manchester, Mary Bruce and many nieces and nephews.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, July 13, 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Services will be held Thursday, July14, 11:00 A.M., also at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
