

Elaine Springer Hochner passed peacefully from this life on Sunday June 5, 2011 at the age of 89 after a relatively brief illness. She was born in Jersey City, NJ September 19, 1921 and for the past six years resided in Ventura, CA.
During her life in New Jersey, Elaine worked as Administrative Secretary for Congressman Torricelli and retired in 1990. Elaine was gregarious and witty. She had many life-long friends that meant the world to her. She truly loved life and traveled often. Her love of art, music, theatre, film and literature were a part of her everyday environment. She was a caring mother who imparted the joys of living to her children. Her grandchildren adored her and her great grandchildren will know her through stories and pictures. She was an avid fan of tennis and golf, both of which she played. She was an active member of Temple Shalom, River Edge, New Jersey where she brought up her children in the Jewish faith. She will be dearly missed, though in our hearts forever.
Elaine was happily married to William C. Brudnick for 22 years from 1942-64 and happily married to Walter Hochner for 34 years from 1971-2005; a widow of both. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law , Nancy and Jack Schaefer (Ventura); son, James Brudnick (Santa Cruz); stepchildren, David Hochner (Orange County), Balai Marsden (Los Angeles), and Lynn Taber (San Diego); grandchildren ,Sara and Billy Schaefer (Ventura), Kenda Haines, Django Whittington, Nettie Mitchell-Brudnick (Santa Cruz); 4 great grand-children.
