Elizabeth was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 8, 1924, to Marie and Charles Friedmann, joining a brother Don.
Elizabeth attended Southeastern High School, Detroit, Michigan, graduating in 1943. She worked for the telephone company, Michigan Bell, before meeting her future husband Jacob A. “Jack” Dumenjich, to whom she married on September 7, 1946.
Elizabeth was the most amazing mother always keeping a beautiful home while raising five children. She was a fabulous cook and had endless energy. After Jack passed away in 1973, Elizabeth moved to Oxnard, CA to be near her brother Don.
She worked part-time as a retail sales clerk for the Broadway and spent her free time helping those who were homebound. Moving to Las Vegas in 1990, Elizabeth joined Hallmark, Inc. and was employed until the age of 84, leaving Las Vegas to be near her children again in California. Elizabeth was the most kind hearted, generous, giving soul always willing to help others in need at a moment’s notice. Elizabeth was a devoted Catholic never failing to put the Lord first in her life. Her strong faith was a testimony to all. Although in her last years she suffered from Dementia and didn’t remember her grandchildren, they will never forget their grandmother for having a unique gift of love and kindness. They were always lifted by her presence and humor. She leaves all of her grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved and they know how much she loved the Lord. Elizabeth had a wonderful sense of humor that was with her until the very end.
Her late husband, Jacob, brother Don, daughter-in-law Judith and grandson Douglas Clark preceded Elizabeth in death. Her five children survive her; Martin Dumenjich (Judith), Mary Elizabeth Coats (Norman), Suzanne Thelen (Alan), Theresa Kappes (Keith), and Thomas Dumenjich (Coleen). She leaves behind seven grandchildren; James, Andy, Chrissy, Aksel, Liam, Stacey, Alyssa, and a great-grandchild, Austin Clark.
A mass celebrating Elizabeth’s life will take place Friday, December 21, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura. Elizabeth will have a private burial in Michigan, Spring 2013.
