Ella Mae Brooks

She was born on December 21, 1943, in Missouri before becoming a resident of Ventura County for the last 42 years; working as a Legal Secretary for more than 50 years. Most recently Mae worked for the Law Offices of Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP, before retiring in 2014. Mae was the President of the Ventura County Legal Professionals Association, and was a very dedicated member for many years.

Mae’s love for crafting allowed her to share her talent with many. She was always thinking of things she could make to give as gifts. Mae also had a passion for playing slot machines and going to the different casinos with her friends. Throughout her life, Mae found joy in helping others and putting everyone else first. She would have given the shirt off of her back to be sure that another person was taken care of. Mae will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Mattoon; and step father, Robert Mattoon. Mae is survived by her son, Brian Brooks, 43, of Ventura; and daughter, Stephanie Brooks, 34, of Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mae’s name to the Ventura County Legal Professionals Association.
