

Our beloved mother Francis Florene Cox McElroy of Ventura, CA, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. She was born March 9, 1939 to Alvis and Artha Cox in Fillmore, California. She was 73.
Francis was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Alvis and Trent McElroy, a nephew she raised as her own son, Richie Oswald and her brother James (Jimmy) Cox. She now leaves behind her son Robert “Bobby” McElroy, daughter Ellen Reclusado (life partner Alicia Nava); a niece she raised as her daughter, Dina (husband Pete Martinez) and including numerous grandchildren she raised; brothers: Floyd Cox (wife Marleen) and Dennis Cox (wife Cindy); twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Francis was a mother, grandmother and an unconditional friend to all. She was an inspirational woman and gave love and forgiveness in abundance. She worked for Ventura County Medical Center for more than twenty-nine years and was a member of the Union Board for Local 721 SEIU, sitting on the Board from 1968 to 2007. She loved the Union meetings, watching Jeopardy and Desperate Housewives.
Her daughter Ellen would like to give a special thanks to: Michael Bailey, John Handley, Jeffrey Brackett, and staff for their many years of care. Community Memorial Hospital's Dr. Li, Dr. Snow and the staff on the 6th floor. Also a special thanks to Beth and Sonia with
Assisted Home Care and Apria Health Care. The family would especially like to thank Ellen for the many years of loving care she provided her mother, our sister, our grandmother.
There will be a time of visitation at 12:00 p.m. Monday Sept. 10th in the chapel at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura, California 93003. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Bardsdale Cemetery in Fillmore, CA.
