

He was born on September 13, 1946 in Santa Paula to Sylvia (Rodriguez) Martinez and John (Miguel) Martinez. Frank spent his younger years in Santa Paula, the family then moved to Oxnard where Frank grew up with his sisters, Ana Marie Martinez, Olivia Martinez, and brothers, John Martinez, Virgil Martinez and Hank Martinez. Frank graduated from Santa Clara High School in Oxnard in 1964. He served his country in the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam / Beale Air Force Base and Port Smith, New Hampshire from 1964 to 1970.
Frank was first married to Norma Morales and they had one son, Adam Martinez (Miguel) and later divorced. In 1990, Frank met and later married his soul mate, Jan Fry-Martinez; they shared the same birth date and were an extension of each other in every way. Frank and Jan are members of Coastline Bible Church where Frank served as an Elder. He enjoyed serving the Lord, participating in many church functions and activities.
Frank retired from The Southern California Gas Company on December 1, 2010, after 27 years of service. He has enjoyed his retirement, sharing the Gospel, cooking, working on his wood crafting, building birdhouses and serving as a Docent at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, which he thoroughly loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Martinez and his brother, Hank Martinez. Frank is survived by his mother, Sylvia Gonzales; wife, Jan Martinez; son, Adam Martinez-Miguel; sisters, Ana Maria Collett, Olivia Martinez (Sister Brianna of the Carmelite Monastery); brothers, John (Babe) Martinez and Vigil Martinez; step-daughter, Tanya Bures (husband Jim); step-daughter-in-law, Cynthia Rosenfeld (husband Stuart); step-son-in-law, Darrin Fry (wife Judy); nieces, Christine Collett, Leslie Sotelo and Ariel Martinez; nephews, Christopher Collett, Tommy John Musgrove (Martinez), and Virgil Martinez, Jr.; great niece, Shannon Moeller-Spaulding; great-great niece, Leeann Marie Moeller; step-grandchildren, Ruby James and Clara Bow Bures, Robert and Rebecca Rosenfeld, Brandin and Hannah Fry. Frank also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the Escoto, Rodrigues and Garcia families whom he loved dearly.
Frank had many medical challenges in the past few years that included miracle recoveries by God’s grace, allowing him to continue to touch the lives of those he met with his kindness and the sharing of his deep belief in Jesus. Frank was a man of integrity and will live on in the lives of those he touched. His life was a gift and blessing to all who knew him.
Friends, family and anyone who felt connected to Frank are invited to attend the Memorial Service to celebrate Frank’s life will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2014, 10:00 am, at Coastline Bible Church, 426 South Mills Road, Ventura. Lunch will be provided following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to Coastline Bible Church, 426 Mills Road, Ventura, CA 93003.
