Fred was born April 2, 1944 to Annabel and Paul Louis Notzka, in Toledo, Ohio. After the death of his father in 1955, he and his mother moved to Ventura where he graduated from Ventura High School in 1962. Fred married his high school sweetheart Cecile Drust in 1965. He then went to work for T & H Compressor Repair with a career spanning over 50 years, first as an employee and later as an owner with his business partner Chris.
Fred is survived by his wife of 50 years Cecile and their eldest son, Paul, his wife Jamie, grandsons, Alex and Isaac from Washington, and their younger son, Mark from Central California. He is also survived by his loving sister, Mary Temple, her sons Bryant and William, daughters Sarah Ann and Rebecca, and their children Alyssa, Gabriel, Maryanne, and Ronen. He will also be missed by his loving sisters-in-law, Joani McLaughlin (Chase, Mikaila and JJ), Teri Morgan, her husband Bruce, (Bailey, MacKenzie and Shaun) and brother-in-law, Paul, his wife Karen, (Duncan and Michael).
Known for his sly charm and gregarious wit, Fred always attempted to do the right thing by his family and friends. If he considered you a friend, you were like a brother or a sister. There was no middle ground.
Having lost his own father at the age of 10, he himself excelled as a father. He was also a role model to not only his own boys, but to everyone he came in contact with either personally or professionally.
Fred was an avid competitive drag racer since his teens. He finally made that last perfect pass: Left the line on time without smoking the tires, shifted through the gears flawlessly throttling straight over the finish line. And kept on going.
