Herston and Dorothy Posey

Herston grew up on a farm near Dumas, Arkansas and married Dorothy Ferguson after high school. In 1947 they moved to the Panhandle of Texas taking with them their baby girl, Judy Angelyn. Herston spent the next 21 years working for Phillips Petroleum Company in Texas. While there he and Dorothy had two sons: Gary Esias and Stanley Wayne. In 1968, Phillips transferred him to California where he worked at La Conchita until he retired in 1985. Herston and Dorothy have called Ventura home ever since.

In 1968, Herston joined the First Assembly of God Church where he served one term on the board of deacons and ushered for a good while. In 2007, Herston and Dorothy chose to worship at South Coast Fellowship, attending services regularly but because of health issues was unable to be involved in ministry.

Herston was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Clara; his brother Ermil Posey and sisters: Lucille Posey Henderson and Emma Faye Posey Naaron. He now lovingly leaves behind his wife Dorothy; daughter Judy; sons: Gary and Stanley; brother, Cletis Posey; sisters: Melba Posey Curry, Patricia Posey Huffman and Shirley Posey Rodgers; 1 grandson, 7 granddaughters and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 1, 2012 in the chapel at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive Ventura, CA 93003. Phone (805) 642-8134.
