Jacob M. Karluk, age 23, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Jake was born on March 22, 1989. He was involved in sports from a young age, playing football, baseball, water polo and golf. Jake was also an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Jake was a graduate of Ventura High School. At Ventura High he excelled in his favorite sport Water Polo. His tenacity and strength in the water earned him the nickname “Junkyard Dog” from his coaches and teammates. After High School, Jake went to work in the oil fields around California and even worked in Alaska for several years.
He is survived by his mother Lisa Karluk; father and step-mother Mark and Cheryl Karluk; sister Kaitlyn (Sis); step-brothers and sister Kevin, Toni, Robert and Martin Lee; aunts and uncles Keri and Brian Robbins, Eric Karluk, Sara Karluk, Rebel and Jeffrey Ernst; cousins Roman, Olivia, and Adam Karluk, Sarah and Morgan Thompson as well as numerous other family members; and too many friends to count.
Jake is also survived by his beloved dog “Blitz” whom he considered his son.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Claude and Arlowyn Schapers; and grandparents David and Kathleen Karluk.

A memorial service for Jake will take place Saturday, October 13, 2:00 P.M., at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
