GOUX, James Raymond, 76 a Santa Barbara native, was born on November 23, 1934, the second son of Anthony & Thelma Ruth Goux, Graduating Santa Barbara High School in 1952. Jim was a Korean War Veteran 1952-1956 serving in the Armed forces of the United State Marine Corp. He was a member of the Marine Corp League of Santa Barbara, was always proud to be a marine and above all an AMERICAN. After being honorably discharged in 1956, Jim returned to Santa Barbara where he met and fell in love with Ann Clemmons of Carpinteria. After marring Ann in August 1957 the two made their home in Santa Barbara.
More than simply talented with machinery, Jim’s love of automobiles became his livelihood and he was known for his dedication to his trade in the automotive business as a machinist mechanic with Caesar’s Auto Parts for over 40 years.
Jim always enjoyed the game of football and volunteered with the Santa Barbara Boys Club as a line coach along with Manual Garcia from 1967-1972. Nothing gave Jim more pleasure than the time that he spent with his Family and it is here that the loss is most deeply felt.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, two sons, Rick Anthony Goux of Lawrenceville, GA, Marvin Michael Goux of Yakima, WA and a Daughter Cynthia Ann Grajava of Big Bear, CA, Stepson, David Henderson, Maryland. In recent years, it was Jim’s greatest joy to be a Grandfather to his grandchildren, Stephen Michael Goux of Lawrenceville, GA, Zebulon Cole Grajava of Ventura, CA, Ashley & Mariah Goux of Yakima, WA, and two Great Granddaughters.
At Jim’s request no service will be held. In lieu of cards and flowers please extend a warm smile or helping hand to a friend or stranger…
Jim will be truly missed, but he has left a legacy that will last for a long time to come.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
