Jeffrey Charles Barnes was born on April 25, 1962 and died unexpectedly from multiple organ failure at Ventura County Medical Center on June 22, 2018.

Born in Santa Barbara, Jeffrey grew up and attended elementary and high schools in Ventura, Santa Paula and San Mateo. During his early teens, his sister Lesley became his legal guardian and he moved from Ventura County to San Mateo for several years where he always had part time jobs to help support himself while still in school.

He continued this strong work ethic in his adult life, in employment as an automotive mechanic at numerous jobs in Ventura and for a brief time in Oregon, spending most of his life in Ventura County. Although the hand that was dealt him in his early life resulted in lifelong struggles with numerous challenges, Jeffrey was always known for his big heart, generous nature and loyalty. He would do anything for anyone and never expect anything in return. Jeff was proud of his family's pioneering heritage and as a part owner, was actively involved in the running of the Maulhardt Ranch in Oxnard, established by his great grandfather in the 1860's.

Jeffrey was predeceased by mother, Gabrielle Maulhardt Barnes and father, Charles R. Barnes and survived by siblings Lesley (Barnes) Brabyn and Anthony Barnes, and half-siblings Dallas Barnes and Joshua Barnes. In addition to his family, Jeff's loss is mourned by numerous lifelong friends, especially Les Seymour who was like a brother to him.

Services will be held at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, on Monday, July 2, 2018, at 10:00 am, with a reception to follow at a local park.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
