John Charles Prentice

Mr. Prentice was born March 27, 1928, in Ventura and was a lifelong resident. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wallace Chaffee Post #1679, as well as the Ventura Elks Lodge, #1430. John was a retired Civil Service Firefighter having worked at Pt. Mugu. He enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his sons, John Jeffrey Prentice of Ventura, Michael Robert Prentice of Anchorage, Alaska and Mark Leonard Prentice of Ventura; grandchildren Shannon Lee Prentice, Kelly Prentice Cary and her husband Mike, Jordan John Prentice and Taylor James Prentice all of Ventura and his special friend, Phyllis Bentley of Ventura. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Jeanette Prentice in 1988 and his daughter-in-law Robin Jordan Prentice in 2008.

A celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the V.F.W. Hall, 3801 Market Street, Ventura.
