Joey was born July 31, 1957 in Oxnard, CA to Antonio and Abigail Rodriguez, he joined his mother and the rest of his family on Friday May 10, 2013. Joey passed away after a lengthy illness, peacefully and surrounded by loving family. He was 55.
Joey attended school at A.R.C. then became a merchandise specialist, employed by A.R.C. for 36 years. He loved his job and enjoyed bowling, dancing to Spanish music, watching WWF wrestling, the Dodgers, and watching movies (his favorite being La Bamba). He enjoyed BBQ’s, spending time with his family and he was also a member of the Special Olympics. Since the death of his mother in February 1994, Joey continued to live a happy, healthy, joyous life with his beloved caretakers: sister Rose, brother-in-law Fred and his two nephews Freddy and Frankie; until he underwent surgery in May 2002 that resulted in him living at St John’s Pleasant Valley Extended Care in Camarillo.
Joey was preceded in death by his father: Antonio Rodriguez, mother: Abigail Rodriguez Duarte, brother: Constantino “Tino” Rodriguez, sister: Gloria Guillen, sister: Connie Velasquez; brother-in-Law: Rafael Guillen, brother-in-Law: Dean Chaffee, maternal Grandparents: Jose & Amelia Ruiz, paternal Grandparents Rafael & Marina Rodriguez, uncles: Daniel and Tony Ruiz, Francisco Rodriguez and Jose Ortiz and aunts: Stella Rodriguez, Matilde Verduzco and Gloria E. Ruiz.
He now leaves behind his Beloved sister Rose Tepesano, (husband Fred Tepesano)
nephew Freddy Tepesano Jr, (wife Robyn and niece Ava Rae) of Camarillo
nephew Frankie Tepesano, of Camarillo. sisters: Maria J Romo of Oxnard, Dolores De Los Santos (husband Robert) of Camarillo; brothers: Carlos Rodriguez, fiancée Julie of Santa Paula. Gustavo Rodriguez, wife Leticia of Oxnard and other numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of life time friends.
Rose would like to extend a very special thank you to the St John’s Pleasant Valley Sub Acute Extended Care for the many years of loving care and friendship they provided to Joey; also a special thank you to the St John’s Pleasant Valley Intensive Care Unit for their dedicated care in Joey’s final days. Last but not least, Rose wishes to send hugs and kisses to all her family for their love and support.
The vigil will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday May 16th at St. Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Church 25 Los Posas Rd. in Camarillo, CA 93010. The funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday May 17th also at St. Mary Magdalen’s then followed by graveside services at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
