I have fond memories of Mr. Hegarty as my principal at Valle Lindo Elementary and my English teacher at Monte Vista Middle school. He was a lovely man. RIP Mr Hegarty. Kristine O'Rourke (Kristi Banta)

Jerry was my sixth grade teacher at P.V. school and what a teacher he was. He was a mentor to me and took myself and a couple of other students to many movies i especially liked when we went to Hollywood to watch the many short features such as Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy. It was because of him I learned the full meaning of many words from the dictionary . If you had him for a teacher you will know what this means. He was a charming person with a quick wit and a fun sense of humor. I shall miss him.

Jerry Hegarty was my fifth grade teacher in Sterling Illinois. He was simply the most creative and caring teacher that I have ever had. I learned proper English, got to participate in three plays, had special picnics, and he even would go with us to the Saturday Matinees! He meant so much to me that I, too became an educator and he got me my first job in Camarillo CA. Many students of him consider ourselves very blessed to have had him for a teacher. I have known him for 65 years and will dearly miss him.
