Joseph had lived in Ventura since 1991. He was a loving husband and father. He met his wife, Brandi, in 2000 and they married in 2003. They enjoyed almost seven years together and have a daughter, Lillee Rose Tillery, five years old, and a son, Jonah Andrew Tillery, three years old. Joe loved his family and was never happier than when he was spending time with them.
Joe's love of the ocean and the beach were apparent in his choice of careers. He enlisted in the Navy after graduation and proudly served three years. Later he trained and worked as a commercial diver. For over ten years, Joe worked as a sales representative for Ventura Steel. Joe was a true people-person; he enjoyed his work, his co-workers, and his customers.
Joe was a genuinely happy person. He was passionate, spiritual, devoted to his loved ones, and fun-loving. He was an avid music-lover. He loved sailing, diving, hiking, in essence, he loved to be outdoors. He was, as many describe him, an overall good person. Joe's infectious smile, charisma and charm drew people to him. Everyone he met liked him and many counted him as a friend. Joe was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend.
Joe will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Brandi Tillery, of Ventura; his daughter, Lillee Tillery; his son, Jonah Tillery; his father and mother-in-law, David and Sharon Barker of Ojai; father-in-law, Alfred Rios of Lompoc; sister-in law, Ashlee Nishiya; brothers-in-law, Ken Nishiya, Ryan Rios, and Daniel Barker; his mother and step-father, Kathy and Don Niblett of Tahlequah, Okla.; brothers, Matt Tillery of Porterville, and Mitch Tillery, of Tahlequah, Okla.; step-brothers, Kelley, Steven, and Joel Niblett, and many others. There are many people who feel blessed to have known him.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon this Saturday, March 6, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura. A memorial fund is established for Joe's children, Lillee and Jonah Tillery, at Santa Barbara Bank and Trust, 789 South Victoria Ave., Ventura, CA 93003.
